After two years in braces, my daughter suddenly began experiencing severe TMJ symptoms. Her jaw locked, she could barely open her mouth to eat, and she was in constant pain. We visited several doctors but were left without a clear treatment plan—until we met Dr. Sweeney. His approach immediately gave us confidence, and within just a few weeks our daughter finally felt relief. Now, as she nears the end of her treatment, she is pain-free, her jaw is functioning normally, and she has both lasting comfort and a beautiful smile! The Focus team is wonderful! They are compassionate and provide a high quality service as if you were their own family. Shelley is a total sweetheart and always makes you feel comfortable and welcomed. Dr. Sweeney is very caring and ensures your bite is treated properly, holistically, not just pretty to look at. Aimee at the front desk is always a pleasure and they are easy to work with! I would absolutely recommend them for anything TMJ related or for general dentistry.

I highly recommend Focus Dentistry! At the recommendation of my primary care physician, I saw Dr. John Sweeney for help with the long-time pain and clicking in my jaw. His meticulous diagnosis and expertise in reshaping my smile, completely freed me from my chewing imbalance. In addition to eliminating my jaw pain, I also have been freed of the daily morning headaches I suffered with for the past decade. I had no idea they were caused by a jaw problem. I am thrilled with the function and beautiful smile that I now have. I so appreciate Dr. Sweeney and his competent and caring team.

When I first met Dr. Sweeney, my mouth was incapable of opening wide enough to accommodate a grape. Every morning, I awoke with severe jaw pain and most mornings, that pain was accompanied by an inability to initially open my mouth. I had battled jaw pain since my 20s as well as intense left eye pain that ultimately led to a “glaucoma suspect” diagnosis in my 40s. My second visit with Dr. Sweeney included a CBCT scan to evaluate the TMJs, which revealed a jaw injury caused by an auto accident when I was 18 (then 33 years ago). After the first month of treatment, my jaw and eye pain diminished substantially and by the sixth month of treatment, I was pain free thanks to the orthotic device created and routinely adjusted by Dr. Sweeney. My three-year journey with Dr. Sweeney included repairing TMJ dysfunction, my bite and tooth erosion of most teeth. However, that journey included immeasurably more thanks to Dr. Sweeney’s holistic care approach. His treatment plan focuses on the uniqueness of each patient, which requires an extraordinary investment of his time that he willingly provides. Where do I begin with how wonderful my experience was with Dr. Sweeney. I experienced lockjaw for almost a year prior to my consult with Dr. Sweeney. During my first visit, Dr. Sweeney and site staff took the time to get to know me, my issues and all that was bothering me. After thorough assessment, Dr. Sweeney proposed a thorough and detailed treatment plan. Within a few short months, my range of motion returned in my jaw and my pain was almost nonexistent. This was an end goal I truly did not think possible after the length of time I experienced jaw issues. I am so grateful for Dr. Sweeney (and Shelly) for all that they did to help me and provide relief.
